Fantastic four projects and where to find them?
There comes a moment in life when you finally gain some sort of stability. You have home, wife (or husband), kids and good job in which you are appreciated. Statistically for men this moment comes about age of 35. In this moment you start to wonder: "Have I done everything in my life that I wanted to do?", "What happened to my childhood dreams?", "Aren't they too childish to even think about them?", "And besides I don't have time for them."
Did you ever dream about writing a book? Maybe you even created some characters and plots and left them in notebook on the bottom of drawer.
Did you ever dream about travelling to exotic places and meeting interesting people? Maybe you have list of places you want to see but you don't have time for this?
Did you ever dream about changing your bad habits or loosing weight?
Did you...?
Well, I did. I had my own dreams and they were just dreams. And dreams are something that exist only in your head. They makes you feel better when you think about them but they are not real.
So what is different now?
I changed my dreams into plans.
Since I started my first job I always worked for factories. I'm familiar with typical production procesess, but also improvement strategies like: 5S, Lean management, TPM, SMED, Risk Analysis, VSM, etc. And here I found the definition of good plan. Good plan should be SMART. It is abbreviation of words: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound.
I'm still working on the wide view of my Master Plan but I have defined 4 projects that will make me closer into fullfilling it. And this blog shall be a record of my struggle into making them real.
I will label each project with a codename to which I will refer later.
So here they are (in alphabetical order):
RUNAWAY - a Sci-Fi story. It started as a material for a book but in current state it is a story script for a game that I plan to create using outcome of project Climber. Adventure/Spy story set in the cyberpunk future with locations such as colony on Mars and Moon base.
This project will grant me:
TRADER - app written in Java for Android OS. It simulates economy system in the galaxy. User is one of traders who owns factories in different solar systems.
This project will grant me:

So here they are (in alphabetical order):
CLIMBER- computer game created in Unity game engine. Actually just a prototype of a game for now. My target is to have similar gameplay like in Tomb Raider Legend. It consists of environmental puzzles that combines climbing with physics (like moving objects, shooting ropes).
This project will grant me:
This project will grant me:
- understanding of game development industry (at least on technical level),
- creating a game of my favourite genre,
- a source of really nice material to upload on YouTube.
QUANTUM - app written in Java for Android OS. It simulates quantum circuits. In common words it simulates Quantum Computer. I have written similar program in C# for my master thesis back in 2014 so I already have theoretical background.
This project will grant me:
- this is my first big Java project, so it basically let's me learn Java,
- and learn GitHub,
- and learn Android Studio,
- staying true to my (quantum) physics roots,
- that "eye-catcher" in CV.
This project will grant me:
- knowledge on how to write a story (like Three-Act Structure),
- possible inspiration for other activities like learning to draw concept arts,
- breeding of creativity.
TRADER - app written in Java for Android OS. It simulates economy system in the galaxy. User is one of traders who owns factories in different solar systems.
This project will grant me:
- improvement of Java and Android skills,
- experience with multiple threads,
- experience with SQL.
In the next posts I will give more details on each of the projects.
